Now Downgrade Windows 10
Here is the easiest process to go back to windows 7 during setup process. In simple words use “No”. I recommend you to decline Windows 10 end user license agreement and thus bring back to old operating system.
Microsoft clearly states that you are only allowed to go back to your previous Windows OS version for 31 days after Windows 10 upgrade. (See Documentation for reference)
But here you can confirm whether 31 or 30 days for rollback period to downgrade your OS version.
- Open -> Start Menu
- Head Over to Settings
- Settings -> Update & Security
- Click -> Recovery
- Choose option like ‘Go back to Windows 7‘ or Windows 8.1 (This options only shows to user who is eligible for downgrade)
- Click -> ‘Get Started’ to go back now.
If go back option is not there, then try this method to revert back to previous installation
- Goto Settings -> Update & Security
- Then Choose Recovery -> Reset this PC
- And Click Get Started -> Choose Restore factory settings.
Restore Files from Windows.old Folder
This is one of the best benefit from windows 10 where you can easily find your older Windows installation files on folder named as ‘C:\Windows.old’ on your system. Now go and browse system folder and restore your old files from it.
